CHEZ PATRICK
In 2006, three years before the first Michelin Guide launched in Hong Kong, Vacuum Studio client Patrick Goubier opened his first Chez Patrick restaurant in the city.
This fine dining restaurant design is quintessentially French but with a modern twist: from the tinted checkered mirror ceiling to the contemporary chandeliers, and from the pared-down wood paneling to the dark monotone damask wallpaper. French window panels, a modern version of the 1920’s Bergère chairs and black bordered castle battlement profiled awning complete the look.
Patrick was one of the earlier rare breeds of chefs who frequently enjoyed coming out of the kitchen to chat and get to know his diners. He therefore wished for an intimate setting with timeless appeal where he could easily connect with his guests and share his home-style French cooking. The black and white monochrome tones and attention to detail in the design ensured that Patrick’s wish was realised.
